Updates (Library)

This thread is open to post any notices for the Library. Also, any requests for additions or updates.

The following is an FYI to anyone who is considering contributing to this library:

Once anything is shared here then you lose any claim to "ownership" of it. Taking credit for your work is perfectly okay -- and in fact, it is encouraged -- but ownership is not. With the obvious exceptions of outdated or nuked files, this policy applies to everyone and nobody will be excluded nor excused for this kind of behavior. If this is unacceptable, then please do NOT upload or post it. Plain and simple.

Just an FYI...

Yesterday, I restored a bunch of .apz that someone had purposely deleted recently. They probably thought they had some sort of right to do so; but once anything is shared here then they lose any claim to "ownership" of it. Taking credit for one's work is perfectly okay -- and in fact, it is encouraged -- but ownership is not. With the obvious exceptions of outdated or nuked files, this policy applies to everyone and nobody will be excluded nor excused for this kind of behavior. If this is unacceptable, then please do NOT upload or post it. Plain and simple.

The apps and games deployment library has been moved (yet again) to this: http://www.lastos.org/team/library/

Hopefully avoiding use of wording like "repository" or "repo" will help prevent this from happening again. Hopefully.

Hey Freezer - you might want to check this runtime package out made by ricktendo64. -- http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/9790-aio-microsoft-visual-bcfj-redistributable-x86x64/ -- it also seems to be XP compatible now. :) Might be useful to make it into a ssApp?

Cheers and Regards

Looks good, thanks. Those Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables can be real head-scratchers at times.

I'll see what I can do. :)

[glow=red]EDIT:[/glow]
Looks like VB6 was excluded and I was getting the "file exists" error with extras.exe -- it needed the /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES switch.

Fixed and repackaged now. :)

Added/Updated:

  • BlockAid.Me_v1.0.0.0_ppApp.apz
BlockAid was born following the illegal seizure of various domains by the US government and in the aftermath of the recent ruling against the newest incarnation of Newzbin in the British courts. Our aim is to demonstrate the futility of employing DNS ‘blocking’ methods in the fight against online copyright infringement and thus, as a way of censoring the internet. There are a number of public DNS services available, such as those offered by Google and OpenDNS, but they won’t help if a domain has been/is seized. BlockAid will. Those who use our DNS service will not be prevented from accessing a domain, even after it has been seized. Our records override those of the internet root, so when you visit a domain on the database, our signposts put you back on the correct path. Use of the system is completely free. Join our censorship-free public DNS now!
  • JPEG.&.PNG.Stripper_v1.5.5.60_ppApp.apz
JPEG & PNG Stripper is a free tool for stripping/cleaning/removing unnecessary metadata (junk) from photo files leaving just the unaltered image behind (i.e., the image quality is not affected). So whatever your motivation for sanitizing your image, you'll know that only the image itself remains.

  • GeoSetter_v3.4.16_ppApp.apz
GeoSetter is a freeware tool for Windows for showing and changing geo data and other metadata (IPTC/XMP/Exif) of image files -- e.g. images taken by digital cameras.

The following was updated:

FYI: This one is actually using the new .app fileformat -- and it's working great with the older versions of SetupS too. ;)

The following was added:

Description wrote:OpenVPN is an open source software application that implements virtual private network (VPN) techniques for creating secure point-to-point or site-to-site connections in routed or bridged configurations and remote access facilities. It uses a custom security protocol that utilizes SSL/TLS for key exchange. It is capable of traversing network address translators (NATs) and firewalls.

OpenVPN allows peers to authenticate each other using a pre-shared secret key, certificates, or username/password. When used in a multiclient-server configuration, it allows the server to release an authentication certificate for every client, using signature and Certificate authority. It uses the OpenSSL encryption library extensively, as well as the SSLv3/TLSv1 protocol, and contains many security and control features.

This ssApp includes security certificates and config files to access the free VPNBook service. Simply right-click on the OpenVPN icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner of your screen), select “Connect” from one of the VPNBook submenus (recommended: UDP53).
