State Report and Announcements
I know this site has been inactive for a while as SetupS was being developed and finalized -- also didn't help any that after switching domain registrars the dns records were a mess (so email was not working for quite a while). But it's all good now and everything including emails are working great....

Re: ssWPIv9 - Preview
i love to test this but im not sure where my apps in to be and how man folders deep , and where does sswpi9 need to be , and the folder names ,like ppapps ssapps You should be able to put ssWPIv9 anywhere you want. It's in a ppApp package, so I'd start there ... ;-) As an Installer, it'll look for ...

Re: ssWPIv9 - Preview
[...] ppApps are now launchable from ssWPI! ? does this mean they need to be unpacked from the apz file Sort of. What it means is that they need installed first (via ssWPI or SetupS) into the respective 'ppApps' folder. From there you can copy that folder to a 'ppAppsLive' one -- for example on a C...

Re: ssWPIv9 - Preview
what would be the folder setup for v9 to see te apz or im i missin something You're not missing anything. I've not implemented .apz support. Yet. :wtf: There's a ton of other stuff missing or incomplete; but in the meantime, BP should be close to finishing his v8 mods (right, BP? ) and we...

The new ssGooey
Here's a preview of what I've got so far. It's extremely stripped down to just some basics but hey, it was practically a freebie on my end ;) Basically, just extract it to a removable media, for example, and run the ssGooey.exe (or set your 'autorun.ini for it). ⋅ ssGooey ppApp (.apz) : s...

File-Naming Best Practices (Discussion)
Introduction: This guide is an introduction to the file naming conventions you will see used when using ssTek. As the already well-established release groups had long ago discovered, a filename can contain a ton of info. So it's important how we structure or format our database-like filenames. Inde...

Re: AppType.app|ppg file specs...
[...] Why not keep a parallel structure with the ssApp/SetupS files for the SetupS installed programs? This idea definitely has possibilities. :-? I'm thinking though the only file needed copied is just the .app file -- either renamed or placed into a folder -- as that would have all the info a ssU...

Re: AppType.app|ppg file specs...
lol And I used to think that all the ssApp/SetupS files in the <AppPath> folder were "left over" by a sloppy install routine. Speaking of which, I remember way back when I first tried one of crabdance's early builds which used SetupS, when you uninstalled any app that SetupS had installed...

Re: AppType.app|ppg file specs...
For the entries such as <AppPath>, <StartMenuSourcePath>, etc is this just a "confirmation" of what the installer would do anyway or can it over-ride the installer somehow? ie if the installer' values and the values in these entries are different, then what happens? In the case of <StartM...

What is ssTEK?
Here we'll try to define, introduce ssTEK. We'll edit this post so it's easier to find: __________________________________________________________ ssTEK (Silent Setup Technology) refers to a deployment technology to install applications and games unattended from a pre-defined package; and hence prov...

Re: List of useful development tools...
Freezer, do you like UltraISO and did you ever use its Virtual Drive? Just wondering... I know you use Virtual Clone Drive, but was wondering what you like/prefer about it. I virtually love UltraISO; the only thing I don't like about it is that the context menu for mounting to vd isn't always there...

Re: SetupS2 Tech
Seems pretty complete to me. I like the idea of incorporating the shortcut flags into the shortcut defs, also combining <OS> and <Architecture> into <System> using real text descriptors (instead of numbers). I had considered all the same things at one point on my stint with SetupS. Just a couple sug...

Re: ssRepository/Software Center
I'd like to point out that if using zip or non-solid RAR/7zip archives that individual files inside the archive can be accessed -- even updated -- and/or extracted from those archives without extracting all preceding files (or in some worse case scenarios without extracting the entire archive first)...

Re: ssRepository/Software Center
Two, well, three suggestions... 1. Remember Catalog can now support more than one entry. Perhaps separate them with the "|" marker. 2. For the sake of simplicity -- and to have mercy on anyone making, or even planning on making builders of any sort -- I suggest using ppApp.jpg, ppApp.png, ...
